building our first rev4 board: now working!

Added by hugomeiland about 12 years ago

Hi all,

Yesterday we started soldering our rev4 board. I'll try to use this subject to post some remarks and questions we come across during the build... fyi I've bought the complete hpc3020 electronics set from the webshop.
Just to start with the first questions:
- is there a pdf of the mask available like the one for rev3?
- can the additional resistors and capacitors be documented on (a rev4?) board page?

I hope this will help other builders!!

Mask is found here: https://github.com/LaosLaser/Hardware/blob/master/laos-board-rev4/laos-board-brd.svg
the file is still pretty full; so I'll try to turn off some layers to make sure I can read the required info...

Part of the soldering is done, and I'm slowly going through the first check steps. The wiki says when power is applied without the mbed and pololu's attached, only pin2 should give 5V. In my case also ping 9 and 10 of the mbed read 5V. Could someone confirm this?

In the schema I see these pins are connected to 5V through 2k2 resistors for the i2c bus...

Thanks!

Hi,

I just checked on my board, and I'm getting the same readings.

Darren.

thanks, I've modified the wiki for this...

again a small step: you do need to put the mbed in the laos board to see feedback on the test-firmware....

hi all,

the ls3020 is in and we are slowly moving forward; I do have a small question though:
when running the firmware tests the stepper motors do not react. when measuring the mbed, it does give the correct signals when pressing the x and y keys. looking a bit further it looks like the enable is not send correctly. trying to toggle the enable, it will only toggle the enable off (as shown on the serial connection), while the red enable led is shining really faint.

has anyone tips on how to troubleshoot this??

thanks!

just to clear this forum entry: the above question was due to an error on the rev4 boards; this has been documented in the mean time and can be found on the front page of the wiki. the machine is cutting fine now, so one more rev4 board working happily!
