Problems with z-axis ( setting focus by i2c panel )

Added by l_k3 over 11 years ago

Hi,

i have the laos board running in my laser (moshidraw) now. It works great so far. Yesterday i added the focus motor ( z - axis ). Now i have a problems setting the focus with the i2c panel. If i press up/down button the motor makes only one step. If i hold the button nothing happens. First i thought it might be a hardware bug, so i changed the wires and tried the z- motor with the x-axis stepper. The motor seems to be ok. I checked the configuration file multiple times. Configuration file looks ok.

The strange thing happens when i move x- axis or y-axis by the i2c panel, the z-axis moves also. But it moves only in one direction. So i think it would be a bug in the software.

regards
Mario

Hi Mario,

I think you are the first one to use LaOS with a machine with Z-Axis!

Can you make a short movie to show what is happening? Maybe that makes it easier to debug.

I will try to make a video until tomorrow.
I upgraded my laser with this table/ bed kit : http://www.lightobject.com/Power-table-bed-kit-for-K40-small-laser-machine-P722.aspx

As you can see in the video, if i move x or y ( direction dosen't matter) the z axis moves up. If i press up/down for focus, the z axis moves in such small steps that i can not realy capture it with my camera. But i can hear that the motor is moving every time i press one of the buttons. I use microstepping for the z-axis too. I also tried full steps for the z-axis with the same result. The only difference was that i clearly saw the single step moving. In full step mode i recognized that the directions are correctly set by pressing the up/down buttons.
