X and Y not toggling with test firmware

Added by trj about 11 years ago

Using laos_iotest_board_LPC1768.bin without any Pololu stepper drivers attached, if I hold 'x' or 'y' I see:

Test y: ystep is now OFF
Test y: ystep is now OFF
Test y: ystep is now OFF

Using an oscilloscope, I don't see the y step pin toggling at pin26 on the mbed.
This was working earlier this evening, but isn't any more.

But, if I hold 'Y', I see ON/OFF/ON/OFF messages and the y dir pin toggling.

Does this mean I have a broken mbed?

Thanks.

For further information, I think I know what happenned...

I enabled microstepping on my Pololus by connecting the solder pads. But, I confused XEXT and YEXT for J16 and J22.
This probably fried the mbed's pins :-(

I'll post an update when the replacement arrives.

Please read this issue as well!

Might not have been your fault at all...

i can confirm that my rev4 board has this bug(68).

RE: X and Y not toggling with test firmware - Added by trj about 11 years ago

After removing the links on XEXT and YEXT I replaced my mbed and pololu boards with new ones.

Now, when using x/y/X/Y from the iotest firmware I see the mbed pins toggling as I'd expect. But, with the pololu steppers plugged into the board the enable, step and dir lines are no longer controllable from the microcontroller.

I've now made the mod from Bug #68. But, all of my pololu boards appear to be dead already (tested from bench power supply on breadboard).

More steppers on order.

Thanks for investigating.
